Sailing Cruise - Logistics

Participants

This is a group booking. There is room for up to twelve guests (plus Captain Todd & crew), so you likely will be sailing with others who have signed up for the same date and time.

What to Bring

You are welcome to bring whatever food and beverages you would like to make your cruise more enjoyable. We’ve seen the whole gamut from finger foods to birthday cakes to full buffets. All is welcome, but please keep in mind that managing plates and flatware on a moving vessel can be tricky.

Wine, beer, and spirits are permitted. Glass beer bottles are fine, however please do not bring glass stemware on board (e.g. wine glasses) as these have a significant tendency to break or spill.

What to Wear

Dress in casual, comfortable clothes appropriate for the forecasted weather conditions and temperatures. Consider bringing a light jacket, as temperatures on the water can be cooler than those on land, especially early and late in the sailing season. It’s better to have it and not need it, than not have it and freeze your you-know-what off.

No matter how hot you look in those Prada pumps, please wear sneakers or other rubber-soled, closed-toe shoes to ensure secure footing while aboard. Flip-flops, high-heels, and sandals are discouraged.

Location

Dauntless is docked at Geist Marina. This is the large marina facility located on the south side of Fall Creek Road, just west of the large bridge over Geist Reservoir. The address is 11695 Fall Creek Road, Fishers. However, many GPS systems do not place the physical address location correctly. You may have better luck searching for “Geist Marina” or, if using Google, “Dauntless Sailing School.” Either way, it’s the marina facility adjacent to the Bella Vita restaurant and Eddy’s Neighborhood Bar and Grill, both readily findable.

The marina parking lot is on the left (east); look for the large flag pole. Upon arriving, come directly to Dauntless which is located half way down the main dock walkway, on the left. We will meet on the dock by the boat, as our very first bit of sailing “instruction” will cover how to safely board the vessel.

Arrival Time

Plan on arriving 15 minutes prior to the cruise departure time (your specific cruise departure time should have been part of the original email to which this document was attached). Please be punctual. In the event of an unforeseen delay, please let us know you’re running late (317-987-8241) – we would hate to leave you standing at the dock!

Weather & Cancellation Policy

While every attempt will be made to cruise under sail, we cannot guarantee there will be sufficient wind to do so. In the event of too little (or too much) wind, we may “motor sail” as an alternative.

In the event of hazardous weather conditions, Captain Todd will officially cancel the cruise via email or phone call. Because weather forecasts and conditions can and frequently do change, this notification may be just hours before departure. Always assume the cruise is “on” unless otherwise directly notified.

Tipping the Crew

These cruises are a family affair. My wife Cheri and/or one of our children often help crew and are available to assist you during your cruise. The cost of the cruise does not include crew gratuity. Tips for excellent service are appreciated. For those who don't carry cash - like me - for your convienance we are able to process your tip via credit or debit card at the conclusion of our cruise.
